Most Rev Bishop Mark Coleridge

Bishop Coleridge is Auxiliary Bishop for the Western Region of the Archdiocese of Melbourne and will lecture in Biblical Theology in the Institute. After undertaking a B.A. at the University of Melbourne and his priestly studies at Corpus Christi College he was ordained in 1974. He served in the East St Kilda, Drysdale, Doncaster East, Ashburton and Pascoe Vale parishes before studying for a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture (1984) and a Doctorate in Sacred Scripture (1992) at the Biblicum in Rome (1994). He also studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Jerusalem. In between and after these studies in Rome he was a lecturer in the Catholic Theological College (1985-97), rising Deputy Master (1992-95) and Master (1996-97). From 1994 he was media spokesperson for the Archdiocese and from 1995 President of the Fellowship of Biblical Studies, Melbourne and foundation President of the Forum of Australian Catholic Institutes of Theology. From 1998 he worked in the Vatican Secretariat of State and was appointed a Chaplain of His Holiness (Monsignor) in 2001 and bishop in 2002.
