After having graduated from Agricultural College, he worked for several years as a Technical Advisor for Northrup King, prior to commencing seminary studies in Rome. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in 1987.

Then he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Urban University. Afterwards, he undertook postgraduate studies in Moral Theology at the same University in 1992 with a thesis on The Value and Meaning of Purity as a Christian Virtue. In mid 1992 he was ordained to the priesthood in Wagga Wagga by Bishop W. Brennan and appointed lecturer in Moral Theology at Vianney College, the Diocesan Seminary, while being an Assistant Priest in a nearby parish. After being appointed Vice Rector of Vianney College, he frequented the Institute of Human Sexuality in the USA in order to advance his formation skills.

After some years as a parish priest, he was sent to Rome for further studies and completed his doctorate at the Urban University in Moral Theology in 2002, the dissertation was entitled Prudence and Conscience in the light of Veritatis Splendor: A study on the necessity of Eubulia, Synesis and Gnome for the formation of a true and correct conscience. Also, at that time he worked for the Holy See as a minutante in the Secretariat of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples. Since then he has been appointed Parish Priest and senior lecturer at Vianney College, not to mention being the coordinator of an external course in Moral Theology through Charles Sturt University.

As a chaplain to the National Association of Catholic Families he conducts seminars and camps each year so as to explain the Church's teaching on marriage and sexuality.
