The Institute is delighted to announce that the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the regulating authority for higher education in Australia, has approved the accreditation and re-accreditation of the Institute’s degrees for the maximum 7 year period until 21 June 2023.
The following degrees accredited in 2014 remain accredited until 2 October 2021:
Graduate Certificate in Theology of Psychology and Counselling
Graduate Diploma in Theology of Psychology and Counselling
The following degree has been re-accredited for the period 21 June 2016 until 21 June 2023:
Doctor of Philosophy
The following new degrees have been accredited for the period 21 June 2016 until 21 June 2023:
Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies
Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies
Master of Arts (Theology)
Master of Sacred Theology
Within the new Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies and the Master of Arts (Theology) there will be the following specialisation streams:
Marriage and Family;
Bioethics, Mission and Identity (Graduate Certificate level only);
Bioethics, Theology and Medical Practice;
Evangelisation of Culture;
Art, Liturgy and Culture.
The subjects of the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (with RE Specialisation) will continue to be those mandated by the Catholic Education Office for teachers requiring RE accreditation.
Academic Testamur will show the new course name. When referring to the qualification in a resumé or CV the qualification can be shown as: e.g. Grad Cert in Theological Studies (with a specialisation in RE) or MA(Theology) (with a specialisation in Art, Liturgy and Culture).
The new curriculum subjects will be offered from the Paschaltide semester 2017.

All students enrolling from the Assumption Semester 2016 will be enrolled into the new degrees.
Course accreditation for the following courses ceased on 30 June 2016; however, the accreditation has been extended to ‘teach out’ for a period of one year:

Graduate Certificate in Bioethics
Graduate Certificate in Religious Education
Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies (Marriage and Family)
Graduate Diploma in Bioethics
Graduate Diploma in Religious Education
Master of Theological Studies (Marriage and Family)
Master of Bioethics
Master Sacred Theology (Marriage and Family)
Students enrolled in the above courses who complete their studies prior to 30 June 2017 need take no further action and will be eligible to apply to graduate with the relevant degree.
Students who do not complete the full requirements of their current course prior to 30 June 2017 will be transferred into the new course in the relevant specialisation with all existing subject credits.
