Spirituality and professional development opportunities for social workers, psychologists, counsellors, marriage educators, pastoral workers, welfare workers
Every caring professional knows that marriage and family life are under enormous pressure in Australia today. Rates of marriage and family dysfunction and breakdown are alarming, as are associated social problems such as promiscuity, unwanted pregnancy, abortion, falling birth rate, aging population, drugs, child abuse, homelessness, youth suicide, disorientation, a widespread inability to commit or to relate well. Each is a personal tragedy, often caused by spiritual as well as psychological and relational factors, and often leaving a profound spiritual void in its wake. The care of such persons calls for great sensitivity, compassion, a real understanding of the underlying causes, and new strategies for responding.
To answer this need the John Paul II Institute offers
individual units in spirituality, ethics, pastoral care
